  • Join us for an engaging one-hour backstage tour of Edmonton’s distinguished concert hall, now celebrating its 15th Anniversary. Hear the interesting behind-the-scenes tales of how the community came together to build the concert hall, learn the fascinating details embedded in the very walls, and hear the majesty up close and personal of the Davis Concert Organ—the largest of its kind in Canada.

  • Join ESO Teaching Artist Darren Salyn’s innovative percussion workshop Big Drum: a fun and accessible exploration of drumming techniques and rhythm styles from around the world. Through collaboration, call and response, and plenty of practice, participants will learn essential skills and global beats. Workshop is aimed at children and youth participants, and is fun for all ages.

    Kita No Taiko (“Drums of the North”) is Alberta’s first Japanese drumming ensemble and one of the city’s most enthusiastic heritage outreach groups. Through a combination of self-instruction and tutelage received in Japan, this ensemble’s mastery of the taiko makes for an energetic and enthralling performance.

  • Uniquely Albertan, Mile Zero Dance is a contemporary dance company committed to the cultivation of original contemporary performance through creating dynamic interdisciplinary works. As a member-driven organization, MZD is a voice for a younger generation of artists and audience members alike who are interested in merging different art forms through exploratory collaborations and the unexpected. Due to its unconventional dance style, Mile Zero is able to work ‘off-grid’, performing in public spaces and catching its audience by surprise.
