About Flickr

Flickr is an online photo-sharing website. In order to enter our 2009 Photo Contest, you simply need to add your photos to the Sobeys Symphony Under the Sky group.

Full Contest Rules

The Sobeys Symphony Under the Sky Photo Contest is open to all participants excluding employees of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the immediate families of such employees.

You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit – including ownership, if applicable – other than those rights licensed as follows: by entering the contest, you hereby grant to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (i) a nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, and publicly display the photographs you submit to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and (ii) the right to use your name, city, state, and country of residence in promotions and other publications.

All photographs will be credited with the caption "© Participant's Name." The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra has final approval of any language that appears on its website in connection to any of the photos and will not promote or endorse third-party products or services. Entrant warrants that the submitted photograph is owned by the entrant, and is an original, non-published work that does not infringe upon the rights of any third parties.

The privacy settings of submitted photos must be set to Public or Anyone to be considered in the contest. If you do not upload your photo to the Sobeys Symphony Under the Sky Photo Contest group on Flickr, or do not tag your photo with the tag ssuts2009, it will not be considered for competition. If you have trouble using Flickr, please consult their online help files. The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is not responsible for any issues or problems you encounter while trying to upload a photo onto Flickr.

Entries may originate in any format – including but not limited to digital files, digital prints, color transparencies, color prints, or black-and-white prints – so long as they are submitted electronically in JPG/JPEG format. Judging will be based on which picture best represents the experience of attending Sobeys Symphony Under the Sky, as well as creativity, artistic merit, composition, and overall impact. Images will be judged by a panel of Edmonton Symphony Orchestra staff and volunteers who are familiar with photography, and who are responsible for selecting images for various Edmonton Symphony Orchestra print and electronic marketing and public relations materials.

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judges are final.

The deadline for submitting photo entries is 11:59 pm MDT on Friday, September 11, 2009. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 18, 2009.

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control. The winner of each photo category will receive a pair of tickets selected by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra to a future ESO concert. Winners will be notified via Flickr Mail.
