Seat Dedication Campaign

The Francis Winspear Centre for Music opened in September, 1997 - the crown jewel of the arts district, and a testament to the will and desire of an entire community.

One of the most successful fundraising campaigns for the new hall was the Seat Dedication Campaign. For a $1000 contribution, participants in the campaign could have a plaque installed on the arm of a seat in the Winspear Centre, a perpetual legacy to both the donor and to an unswerving belief in the importance of the arts in all our lives.

By the time the Winspear Centre opened, over 1200 seats had already been dedicated! There are still some available, so you still have the opportunity to participate in this unique and lasting fundraising effort. You can proclaim your personal commitment to the arts, or commemorate a special person or occasion by dedicating seats:

  • As an individual, couple or family
  • In the name(s) of your children, grandchildren or parents
  • As a special birthday, anniversary or holiday gift
  • To commemorate the birth of a child
  • In memory of a loved one
  • In the name of your business or service club
  • In honour of retiring employees or outstanding members of an organization

Dedicators have already found hundreds of imaginative tributes and memorials already.

Want to take part?

Each contribution of $1000 entitles you to:

  • Your name, the name of a loved one, or your organization engraved on a brass plate to be permanently affixed to a concert hall seat
  • A receipt for income tax purposes
