The Edmonton School of Ballet offers dance training and performance at its best! The school has exceptional training in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop, and flamenco. Our highly qualified staff and fantastic studios are unparalleled in the city. We offer dance classes to children through adults, starting at 3 years old.

The mission of the Edmonton School of Ballet is to provide each student with professional training which enhances their interest, talent and enthusiasm in reaching their fullest potential Margaret Flynn, L.I.S.T.D. (Cecchetti Faculty), founded the school in 1967 and is its Artistic Director. The school has been recognized for its excellence in training and guiding students towards a career in dance. Many graduates of the ESB have gone on to careers as professional dancers and teachers.

Our dance school is situated in a beautiful, architecturally designed area located on Vimy Ridge Academy's second and third floors. There are eight large studios, all composed of sprung wood floors covered with dance floor matting and equipped with barres and mirrors. The Edmonton School of Ballet provides professional piano accompaniment for ballet classes and quality recorded music. All dance instructors are highly qualified in their specific area of expertise. Our students get exceptional dance instruction with amazing results.

Senior students can increase their performing experience by auditioning to become members of one of the resident companies: the Edmonton Festival Ballet (EFB) (co-founded by Margaret Flynn) or the Edmonton Contemporary Dancers (ECD) (founded by Tina Covlin-Dewart).

1995 became a turning point for the Edmonton School of Ballet. Margaret Flynn expanded the ESB’s Professional Program to become an alternative program with the Edmonton Public School Board. Students who hope that their training will lead to a professional career enjoy the best of two worlds. The dancers focus on their love of dance and maintain an excellent academic education. With Junior High and High School integrated at Vimy Ridge Academy in Edmonton, the students pursue their dance and academic studies within a supportive community yet still mix socially with others of varied interests and abilities.
