Revered for her "rich, expressive voice" and hailed as "an old school jazz chanteuse with new school attitude" (GigCity.ca), Mallory Chipman is a Canadian jazz vocalist known for her thoughtful compositions, fearless improvisation, and unforgettable performances. Mallory has spent years cultivating her own unique sound: one that transcends genres; marrying jazz improvisation with the grittiness of rock and roll and the poetic lyricism of folk music. Mallory’s debut album, Nocturnalize, was met with critical acclaim, with the track “Angular Symphony” being awarded Jazz Recording of the Year at the Edmonton Music Awards, and she is currently working on her sophomore album, Rags & Feathers: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen, which will be released in November 2017 on Bent River Records. Her performance career is balanced by her faculty position at the esteemed MacEwan University where she teaches voice.
Ms. Chipman last appeared with the ESO for the ATB Symphony in the City in June 2017.
