Tara Rachelle Whittaker debuted as a soloist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the age of 16 while a student of Elizabeth Koch, ESO Principal Flute. She continued her studies with Sarah Jackson and Camille Churchfield at the University of British Columbia where she received a Bachelor of Music Degree with Honours in Flute Performance.
Intrigued with chamber music, Tara went on to form the Atlantis Trio comprised of flute, violin, and cello. After a world-wide tour in 2005 with the Atlantis Trio, Tara launched her solo career headlining on international cruise lines performing classical, Latin, jazz, folk, and pop music on flute, piccolo, and a wide variety of ethnic flutes. These theatres at sea provide an ideal venue to pursue her passion of sharing music with a broad audience demographic while showcasing the origins and versatility of the flute. Tara has performed with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble and the Alberta Symphony. When at home in Edmonton she enjoys performing with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra on both flute and piccolo.
This is Ms. Whittaker’s debut as a soloist with the ESO.
