Stefan Jungkind

Stefan began his musical training in London, England as a child, and received his advanced musical training in Edmonton and at the Vancouver Academy of Music, University of Cincinnati and Banff School of Fine Arts.

As a professional violinist and violist, he has played in and performed solos with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra (as concertmaster) and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra among others. He has been Principal Violist of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra since 1997 and was a member of the first violin section for 12 years prior to that. As a chamber musician Stefan has performed numerous concerts with many different ensembles in Calgary, Edmonton and Thunder Bay, and was one of the founders of both Quartetto Capilano and the Sempre la Musica chamber music series. As a teacher he maintains a lively class of both violinists and violists.

Outside of music, Stefan pursues a keen interest in birds and in pure mathematics when time permits, and also assists his wife Debra Belmonte, a former twenty year veteran of the ESO first violin section, in her new store Ibon Antiques & Collectibles. Stefan and Debra continue to encourage music in their violin playing son, Alban, and cello playing daughter, Kendra.
