Young Leadership Council
Are you interested in sharing your love for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Winspear Centre with other young people across Edmonton? Do you want to help your communities engage and connect with music and the Orchestra? Would you like the opportunity to provide meaningful feedback on Winspear concerts and events?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, please consider applying to join the FWCM | ESS Young Leadership Council. This term we are recruiting up to 10 Members at Large and up to two additional Council Members.
The YLC’s mandate is to support the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Winspear through outreach, ambassadorship and providing feedback to FWCM | ESS staff. You will also have the opportunity to log your volunteer hours and earn free tickets to concerts!
- Be 18 - 29 years old
- Reside in Edmonton or surrounding area
Preference will be given to those who:
- Have a curiosity about music or the arts, and an interest in giving back to the community
- Have a desire to develop and apply leadership and teamwork skills
- Have prior engagement in community service and/or a strong desire to become involved
- Have an understanding of current issues
- Self-motivated and able to make a reasonable commitment of time; view YLC as a priority
Member at Large positions entail up to a 10 hour/month commitment and can expect to volunteer at concert and outreach events around Edmonton and provide written feedback on questions from the Council and Winspear. Member at Large positions are ideal for those looking to be involved with Winspear while juggling other commitments.
Council positions entail a 20 hour/month commitment and applicants must be available to attend monthly evening meetings on the 4th Thursday of the month (e.g. February 28th). Council members can expect to attend monthly meetings, staff tables at concerts and outreach events around Edmonton, and may manage a specific internal portfolio. Council Positions require a more significant commitment than Members at Large.
