John McCormick
Drums & Percussion
John McCormick has taught at the University of Alberta, King’s University College, Concordia College, and MacEwan University.
John has been with the conservatory since 1976. He is the founder and conductor of the Alberta College Percussion Ensemble and is also on the music faculties of the King's University, the University of Alberta, Concordia College and Taylor College. He is a much sought after clinician throughout Alberta, at the conservatory he has taught at the Summer Music Retreat, Band Together, Jumpstart program, and was the founder and instructor of the Alberta College Summer Percussion Workshops. John has also taught at Musicamrose, Music Alberta, Sifton Summerfest and the Spectra Arts Festival.
As a performer he has played with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for 43 years. He's also working for the Edmonton Opera, Alberta Ballet, Tommy Banks, Shumka Dancers, Citadel Theatre, Northern Lights Theatre, and many more.

Lessons available at all levels of ability in a wide range of musical genres—classical, pop, rock, Latin, African Jazz, etc.—on an even wider range of percussion instruments
I will nurture what drew the students interest in drums and percussion, while developing strong fundamentals and offering the opportunity of expansion.
