Teaching Quote/Philosophy:

As a performer and educator with experience in classical, jazz, and contemporary music, I focus on building strong fundamentals while helping students find their own musical voice. I aim to make lessons engaging, challenging, and enjoyable, supporting each student's unique goals and interests.

Lesson Description:

I offer private upright bass lessons in my home studio for students of all ages and experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. One of my particular strengths as a teacher is helping students develop skills in both classical and jazz traditions, giving them a broad musical foundation and the flexibility to pursue a wide range of musical interests.

Lessons are tailored to each student's goals and may include technique, tone production, music reading, ear training, improvisation, repertoire, audition preparation, and effective practice strategies. Whether a student is preparing for examinations, performing with a school ensemble, community orchestra, jazz band, or learning for personal enjoyment, lessons are designed to support steady progress and musical growth.

My teaching emphasizes strong fundamentals, curiosity, creativity, and musical expression. I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students are challenged, encouraged, and equipped with the skills to become confident, independent musicians.
