Judy-Lynn Sawchuk
Voice
Ms. Sawchuk first began as a classically trained soprano who began vocal studies in musical theatre and then subsequently moved to opera. Principal roles have included: Tales of Hoffman, the Magic Flute, The Crucible, and The Cunning Little Vixen. Ms. Sawchuk has experience performing in television (15 broadcasts on CBC), and in various theatre productions at the Citadel Theatre, Mayfield Dinner Theatre, and Edmonton Opera. She has acted in such films as Prom Night Two and W.O. Mitchell’s Alberta Experience and various ACCESS Educational programs.
Judy-Lynn received her Bachelor of Music (Voice) at the University of Alberta. Before entering the degree program, she followed the Toronto Conservatory voice and piano programs. After graduation, she studied with Selena James at the Banff Centre and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Direction and influences have included Richard Miller, Martin Isepp, Alexander Munn, Tracy Dahl, and Mary Morrison (University of Toronto Opera program). Dramatic influences include Keith Turnbull (Banff Centre) and David Walsh (Victoria Conservatory of Music).
Presently, Ms. Sawchuk shares her love of music as an educator with Edmonton Catholic Schools. Ms. Sawchuk creates a fun and creative environment for her students. She not only brings her stage experience, but she explores her musical classes through a strong singing approach built on classical, Orff and Kodaly pedagogy. She is dedicated to providing a learning atmosphere that strives to challenge, tailoring her instruction to the needs of each individual student. Ms. Sawchuk is committed to instilling a love of singing for her students that continues to build a foundation for musical excellence.

Lesson Description:
Ms. Sawchuk continues and maintains a private voice studio with Grant MacEwan University. Her students have received success of their own through performance, scholarships, professional theatre contracts, and degree programs. Ms. Sawchuk’s linguistic skills concentrate in French, Italian, German, Spanish and the IPA system.

Ms. Sawchuk's past musical experiences (Bachelor of music University of Alberta, Victoria Conservatory, Banff Centre, Royal Conservatory) allows for her to create an atmosphere that is challenging and committed to building a foundation of musical excellence.
