Carole-Anne Roussel
Soprano
Carole-Anne Roussel is a Quebec soprano, appreciated for the purity and flexibility of her voice, her natural stage presence. A recipient of the prestigious Prix d'Europe 2021 and winner of the Concours Queen Elisabeth of Belgium in 2023, she mentored the Quebec soprano Hélène Guilmette, in addition to having been an artist-in-residence at the Chapelle musicale Queen Elisabeth de Belgique under the tutelage of José Van Dam. She has a master's degree with distinction from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, where she studied with the mezzo-soprano Sonia Racine, and vocal coach Martin Dubé.
In recent years, she has been heard in some roles such as Norina in Don Pasquale in ItalfestMTL; Leila in The Pearl Fishermen of Bizet with Jeunesses Musicales Canada; La Comtesse Adele in Le Comte Ory with Tempest and Passions; The Little Girl with Matches in Three Contes of Andersen by Jean-François For the last 2 years, she sang as a soloist with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec in the 4th symphony of Mahler, with the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montréal under the direction of Louis Lavigueur, with Appassionato in Knoxville de Barber, with Le Concert d'Anversa in Le D'amge d'un nuit d'été by Mendelssohn, with the V. It has been heard previously singing with the Orchestre de l'Estuaire, with the Lévis Symphony Orchestra in Haydn's Paukenmesse, and with the Chœur des rhapsodes in Mozart's Requiem. She is also very active in several organizations in Quebec City, including Tempêtes et Passions, La Relève Musicale de Québec and the Ensemble Renouveau.
In her career, she also took part in internships and programs of young artists, such as the Domaine Forget in Saint-Irénée, CSNY in June in New York, the Orford Art Centre, the Canadian Institute of Vocal Art in Montreal, Highlands Opera Studio in Ontario, Opera NUOVA in Alberta, as well as workshops at the opera La Monnaie in Brussels and the courses organized by the live. In these courses, she was able to receive the teaching of several great masters, including Marlena Malas, Margo Garrett, Wolfgang Holzmair, Kathryn LaBouffe, Joseph Rouleau, Richard Margison, José Van Dam and Sophie Koch. Carole-Anne is a scholar of the Prix d’Europe, the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, the Fondation Hans-Jorgen Greif, the Fonds Sandra and Alain Bouchard and the AIDA Fonds des Jeunesses Musicales Canada. She is recognized for perseverance, her precision, her attention to detail, and her authenticity.
