Echo Mazur

Clarinet

Echo Mazur grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan but has studied, performed and lived around the world. She completed the Royal Conservatory of Music A.R.C.T. piano performance diploma while in high school and then went on to win the Governor General’s Gold Medal for her Master’s in Clarinet Performance split between the University of Regina and l’Univérsité de Montréal. A year in Toronto with the Orchestral Training Program laid the foundation for a permanent position with the Saskatoon Symphony as well as playing as an extra with the Regina, Jersey (Channel Islands) and now Edmonton Symphony Orchestras, and even a short tour with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. She is a true multi-instrumentalist and has tripled on sax and flute in many pit orchestras. The most recent addition is the celtic harp, a perfect project to begin during Covid.

Since arriving in Edmonton in 2010, Echo has played clarinet regularly with the ESO and in many pick up orchestras. When she has the time she enjoys accompanying instrumentalists and singers. She teaches clarinet and piano in her home studio and is often hired for clarinet clinics of all levels. In recent years she has started leading a community clarinet choir called “The Bonnie Tunes” which now has 2 levels: Intermediate and Advanced.
