Violin II

Adriana Lebedovich began playing the violin at age 3, and has been immersed in a musical world ever since. She attended the University of Calgary receiving a Bachelor of Music With Distinction, in Violin Performance. Her professional debut performance took place in April 2006 with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2007, while in her third year of violin studies, she successfully won a position with the CPO, and was able to complete her degree while working full time. As a classical violinist, Adriana has studied at international programs in France, Brazil, Norway USA, Norway, and Canada and has been coached by many clinicians and soloists, including James Ehnes, Gilles Apap, Mark Fewer, and Kees Hülsmann. While in university, she played in the UCalgary String Quartet, releasing an award nominated CD of Eastern European music: “Far Behind I Left My Country” and as well as touring Portugal for the CD release. She was honoured to solo with both the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra and the Timmins Symphony Orchestra. Adriana enjoys collaborating as a chamber and orchestral musician with Luminous Voices, the Calgary Bach Society, the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra, as well as playing in chamber ensembles, including the 8th Avenue String Quartet, for Concerts in Care, and private functions. Adriana is a proud Canadian of Ukrainian heritage and has celebrated her Ukrainian culture by singing and playing in many ensembles, including the Korinnya Ukrainian Folk Ensemble and the Canadian polka band, Zhyto, releasing CDs with both groups. She presently performs with Lastiwka Ukrainian Choir and Orchestra based in Saskatoon. She enjoys learning foreign languages including Ukrainian, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. When she is not playing the violin, she enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and riding her horse, Taima.
