Aidan Dugan

Acting Assistant Principal Oboe

Oboist Aidan Dugan is currently acting Assistant Principal Oboe of the Edmonton Symphony. An active freelancer and teacher, Aidan completed a Master of Music degree at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Ottawa. Aidan also holds an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

An active freelance artist, Aidan has performed frequently with many orchestras across Canada, including the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Regina Symphony, Ottawa Symphony, Thirteen Strings Chamber Orchestra, Ontario Philharmonic, National Youth Orchestra Canada, Red Deer Symphony and the National Academy Orchestra. Aidan also worked at the Mount Royal University Conservatory as an instructor for school band program workshops. A finalist in the NACO Bursary Competition in 2012 (honorable mention), he was also awarded Apprentice of the Year with the National Academy Orchestra in 2014.

In 2018, Aidan participated in the orchestral program at the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado and in 2023 completed the National Arts Centre Orchestra Mentorship Program.
