Michael Eastep

Michael Eastep performed for 40 years as Principal Tuba first with the Winnipeg Symphony and later with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra before retiring from the CPO in 2016. Since moving to St. Albert in 2019, he has performed with such groups as the St. Albert Community Band, the Mission Hill and Mill Creek Brass Bands, the Lodgepole Brass Quintet, and his own tuba ensemble Tubas of Saint Albert. He has taught tuba and euphonium at Brandon University and the University of Calgary and was a faculty member at Saskatoon’s Prairie Music Residencies for the last three summers. 2025 marks Michael’s 50th year as a performing musician in Canada.
