An afternoon of toe-tapping, hand-clapping joy, including big band hits (“Satin Doll”, “Opus 1”, “Jersey Bounce”), familiar tunes from Hollywood and Broadway (Saturday Night Fever, "Begin the Beguine"), a touch of Latin (“Tico-Tico”), and featuring some of Edmonton's finest dancers. The concert will also premiere 2019 Young Composer Project winner Caelan Jansen's original piece, Le Dragon, and close with a long-standing tradition, Tchaikovsky's epic 1812 Overture.
Please note: this event is now selling Park Only tickets. If in the unlikely event that due to poor weather the concert is moved to the Winspear Centre, Park Only tickets will not be admitted at the Winspear Centre, but will be refunded after the weekend has passed.
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 1: Symphony Under the Sky's Toe-Tappers will continue at Hawrelak Park's Heritage Amphitheatre.We've decided to keep the energy and spirit of Symphony Under the Sky at Hawrelak. We expect there might some wet conditions and our musicians and performers will brave at bit a rain. We advise you to please come prepared and dress warmly and bring any rain attire and umbrellas. We hope look forward to seeing you at the park!
