ESO Chief Conductor Alexander Prior and ESO Concertmaster Robert Uchida’s latest partnership results in a virtuoso performance of Sibelius’ moody and exciting Violin Concerto. The evening also features a work by Sibelius’ fellow Finn, Kaija Saariaho. A new arrangement of Ciel d’hiver, a movement from her 2002 work, Orion, will be presented. Completing the program, Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s "Inextinguishable" Symphony celebrates the enduring power of the human spirit.
