How to begin anew? With music by Bach. The poignant slow movement of his concerto, featuring Concertmaster Robert Uchida and Associate Concertmaster Eric Buchmann, serves as a prelude to Wagner’s affectionate idyll, a gift to his wife and newborn child. The first of the season’s great symphonies by the man affectionally known as “Papa Haydn” is his final symphony, a masterpiece of amiable and high-spirited orchestral expression.
