About The Event
Step into the world of a local community theatre company as they come together to stage Die Fledermaus, with all the hilarity and drama that unfolds when artists know each other a little too well – from friends, to enemies, and even ex-partners! As they rehearse, personal conflicts and backstage antics bring unexpected humor.
In Act 1, the actors rehearse for their upcoming performance and become a bit too engrossed in their characters and the storyline of the show. In Act 2, the production has begun and Die Fledermaus comes to life in a dazzling spectacle! Finally in Act 3, after a night of partying to celebrate a successful performance, the characters must make sense of all that's happened. You'll be on the edge of your seat as the relationships of both the actors and their characters build to an entertaining conclusion.
Although he is known for his popular polkas and waltzes like The Blue Danube, Johann Strauss II composed numerous operettas in his signature Viennese style, with Die Fledermaus being one of his most celebrated. This production will feature English dialogue seamlessly blended with the German text within Strauss II's memorable music.
Whether you’re a seasoned opera lover or a curious newcomer, Die Fledermaus promises to be an experience you won’t want to miss.
Please note that this event takes place at the Northern Alberta Jubliee Auditorium, and not at the Winspear Centre.
