About The Concert

Jean-Marie Zeitouni makes his debut as Music Director with a program that celebrates community, musical excellence, family, and the future. Edmonton’s own Jacques Forestier, who busked at the downtown farmer’s market when he was a child and has since won prestigious prizes, performs Dvořák’s folkloric Violin Concerto. Every section of the orchestra will shine in Prokofiev’s mighty Symphony No. 5, showcasing the orchestra’s musicianship and artistry. Of his new work Avé, our friend, Edmonton composer John Estacio writes, “my mother passed away of dementia while I was working on this piece,” and describes it as “a celebration of a full life devoted to nurturing a family, replete with joy, celebration, sorrow, devotion, and a sense of fulfilment.”

This concert will include an intermission.
