Concordia University of Edmonton’s three choirs, the Concordia Concert Choir, Community Chorus, and Bella Voce, collaborate in the eighteenth annual Sacred Music Festival. “O Come, Let Us Sing” lifts up the human voice as a profound vehicle of sacred praise, in a program of mostly Canadian works. Featured is a newly commissioned work by Laura Hawley, “Earth's Secret Soul,” with text by Canadian poet Archibald Lampman.
Special guests include Ariose Women’s Choir and Da Camera Singers, directed by Jolaine Kerley and Laura Hawley, respectively. The audience is also invited to join in the singing a few hymns through the afternoon, led robustly on the Davis Concert Organ.
