Elgar's Cello Concerto

Within seven days, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra will have presented two of the best-loved cello concertos ever written. Last Sunday, it was Antonín Dvořák’s beautiful concerto. This weekend, cellist Andreas Brantelid joins ESO Chief Conductor Alexander Prior for Elgar's Cello Concerto.

I had the opportunity to sit down with ESO Principal Cello Rafael Hoekman, to get his thoughts on Elgar's masterpiece. The result is this video - with apologies for the odd microphone sound. My thanks to Mr. Hoekman for his insight.
