Meet Robin Doyon, principal trumpet player for the ESO since September 2008. Robin, who is originally from Quebec, loves the Spice Girls, poutine, and hockey.

When was your earliest recital and what did you play?
My first public performance was at 14 years old, for a funeral. I played Ave Maria by Schubert.

How long you’ve been with the ESO?
11 years.

How many instruments do you know how to play?
Two – trumpet and piano.

What is your musical guilty pleasure?
Spice Girls.

What is the last album you purchased (digital or physical)?
Bartók, The Wooden Prince; The Miraculous Mandarin Suite - Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra - Susanna Mälkki, conductor.

What was the last music you listened to?
Genesis "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight".

What would your DJ name be?
DJ BSB (Big Shiny Brass).

Who would be your partner on the Amazing Race?
My wife.

What would your personalized license plate be if you had to have one?
BSHARP.

What is your pre-concert ritual?
Checking if my zipper is up before walking on stage.

What's something people might not know about you?
I was a serious baseball and hockey player growing up.

What is your favourite sports team or player?
Les Canadiens de Montreal! GO HABS GO!

How many different cities have you lived in?
Four – East Angus, Montreal, Banff, and Edmonton.

What is your favourite city (or a country) you’ve travelled and why?
Paris, for my honeymoon. Great food, amazing museums, and beautiful scenery.

Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (BRSO).

What food would be on your rider as a rock star?
Eat my mother-in-law's incredible food.
