Sentimental Elgar

Close on the heels of a wonderful performance of another classic violin concerto - Karen Gomyo's presentation of the Brahms with the ESO Nov. 16 & 17 - it seems like a good time to strike while the violin concerto iron is still hot (I majored in mixing metaphors).

A while ago, I had the opportunity to sit down with ESO Concertmaster, Robert Uchida, to talk about some of the important works for violin the ESO is presenting this season - both ones for which he is the soloist, and others as well.

This first video of the series has our conversation about the beloved Elgar Violin Concerto, which Robert will perform with his colleagues on January 26.
