Tchaikovsky & Bruch: Romantic Favourites

Conducted by Earl Lee
June 9 - 11 2:00 PM / 7:30 PM

Young Canadian conductor Earl Lee, recent recipient of the prestigious Solti Conducting Award, joins the ESO for a splendid concert of Romantic treasures. Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony opens with an ominous “fate” theme, yet through tumult and drama, the orchestra blazes toward a triumphant conclusion. Violinist Timothy Chooi returns to Edmonton to perform Bruch’s First Violin Concerto, an alluring masterpiece for the violin.

You are invited to attend a Prelude presentation before the Friday, June 9th and Saturday, June 10th evening concerts, starting at 6:45 PM in the Upper Circle Lobby (3rd Floor). This talk by musicologist D.T. Baker is a fantastic way to learn more about the pieces being performed in your concert.

Program to include:

Kulesha Torque
Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1
Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5

Program subject to change.

This concert will include an intermission.
