Multicultural Choral Festival

Sunday, November 12, 2023 7:00 PM

The second multicultural choral festival will be held at Winspear Centre in Edmonton on the 12th of November 2023 organised by the Oriental Cultural Community Service Centre (OCCSC), the East China Immigrants Society of Edmonton (ECISE) and the New Winds Music and Arts Association.

This annual festival serves as a vibrant showcase of choral art deeply rooted from our diverse cultural backgrounds. It aims to celebrate our bright future in the name of love. Albertans love music. Edmonton, known as Alberta’s capital of music, boasts a thriving choral community that exemplifies one of the city’s greatest artistic treasures. By bringing performing art and multiculturalism together, we aspire to foster a more cohesive society in this post-pandemic era across Alberta. The inaugural event held in early winter of 2022 surpassed expectations, prompting us to host it again in November this year.

This festival offers a unique platform for individuals and groups from different communities to connect, forge new relationships, share their passion for performing arts. It provides the opportunity for collaborative performances on the stages of Edmonton. We hold high aspirations for this festival to become a hallmark celebration of choral communities in Alberta. The festival features more than 10 choirs from different cultural backgrounds and it will bring a joyful visual and auditory performance to the audiences.

As the organisers of the second festival, the East China Immigrants Society of Edmonton (ECISE), Oriental Cultural Community Service Centre (OCCSC) and the New Winds Choir are non-profit organisations in Edmonton. OCCSC and New Winds have been actively serving the community for a decade, while ECISE boasts a remarkable history of nearly 20 years. Throughout the years, the three organisations have successfully coordinated a wide variety of vibrant community activities, including weekly based classes and different types of events, receiving widespread acclaim.
