An Exciting Summer Season with your ESO

An Exciting Summer Season with your ESO

By Micha Poworoznik

Your Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for another summer full of music!

Throughout August, ESO Outdoors returns to bring live orchestral music into your community. Now in its third year, the popular series will make stops in Devon, Fort Saskatchewan, Beaumont, Stony Plain, and Castle Downs Park in Edmonton. ESO Outdoors is an accessible concert series for music lovers from all walks of life that want to experience live music in a comfortable environment. Originally started from an initiative to share live music during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has flourished into community-building events where anyone can experience the ESO. Tickets for ESO Outdoors are Pay-What-You-Can, and will feature a captivating selection of music, including classical, pops, and Hollywood film scores.

Due to the three-year Hawrelak Park closure, our popular Symphony Under the Sky festival had to be reimagined. From August 23-26, we are introducing an exciting new series of concerts called Symphony at Snow Valley. This new iteration of the fan-favourite festival will still include all the best parts of enjoying your ESO outside, including bringing back beloved guest conductor Bob Bernhardt. There will also be two delightful programs to choose from over the four days – from Beethoven’s energetic Symphony No. 7 and Mendelssohn’s popular Violin Concerto to the music from your favourite movies and more. There will be something for everyone at Symphony at Snow Valley this year – don't forget to bring your blanket or festival-height chair.

Finally, your ESO is thrilled to present two concerts in Churchill Square on September 1 & 2. Free to attend, Symphony in the Square will be a can’t-miss event to end the summer, with family-friendly music and even a few surprises. Bring the whole family downtown for some fun festivities and enjoy an evening out!
