Meet Tatiana Warszynski, violin II for the ESO. She’s performed with the ESO for 36 years, travelled the world, and has a soft spot for musicals about furry creatures. During her time working from home, Tatiana is getting creative with salads, spending time with her dog Phoebe and her cat Orchi, and eating her husband’s freshly baked bread – and practicing and listening to music, of course!


Q: When was your earliest recital?
In Grade 1, age 7.

Q: How long you’ve been with the ESO?
36 years.

Q: How many instruments do you know how to play?
Two - Violin and piano.

Q: What is your musical guilty pleasure?
Cats.

Q: What is the last album you purchased (digital or physical)?
Fišer: Complete Piano Sonatas by Zuzana Šimurdová (solo piano).

Q: What was the last song/piece of music you listened to?
Jan Garbarek (jazz).

Q: Who would be your partner on the Amazing Race?
Joanna Ciapka Sangster (ESO Violin I).

Q: What is your pre-concert ritual?
Having a few quiet hours to myself, warming up and relaxing.

Q: What is your favourite sports team or player?
The Oilers.

Q: How many different cities have you lived in?
Five - Gdansk, Oliwa, Pruszcz, Hamburg, and Edmonton.

Q: What is your favourite city (or a country) you’ve travelled and why?
Barcelona - beautiful architecture, Gaudi, Flamenco.

Q: What is your favourite orchestra other than the ESO?
Baltic Philharmonic in Gdansk, Poland.

Q: What do you do in your free time?
Walks with my dog Phoebe, playing with my grandson Alphonso, and making yummy salads.

Q: What food would be on your rider as a rock star?
Fish and chips with coleslaw.
