M is for Music

Conducted by Cosette Justo Valdés
Saturday, May 11 2:30 PM

Sarah T. Murdoch is a curious eight-year-old girl who isn’t looking forward to her school’s field trip to the symphony. She is sure that M stands for Meh, not music. There are ZERO Jellyfish at the Winspear Centre and not a single dinosaur. But could music be its own adventure? In this delightful introduction to the symphony, Sarah explores the big questions: What is music for? Where does it come from? And is fancy-schmancy orchestra music really for everyone?  Let your imagination be captivated by the ESO while following along on Sarah’s adorable musical journey!

This concert does not include an intermission.

Fun, family-friendly activities are available in the lobby prior to each concert, so be sure to arrive early.

  • Magical Musical Book (Main Lobby) - Decorate your cover page for your very own magical book! There are six total activities to complete before the show. Bring along your book to each lobby activity and collect all the stamps!
  • Storytime (Founders’) - Sit down, relax, and enjoy some of your favourite stories!
  • Wonderful Word Wall (Dress Lobby) - A is for adagio, B is for... Your choice! Create music words using letters and contribute to our giant word wall!
