Concert Update

Unfortunately, due to illness, there will be a program change for the performance on June 18. Charles Richard-Hamelin, the piano soloist scheduled to perform tonight, is ill. Your ESO will perform Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 “New World” instead of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 4. If you no longer wish to attend tonight's performance, please contact the Box Office by emailing box.office@winspearcentre.com to request a refund. Refunds will be processed by Monday, June 20.

Dvořák's “New World” Symphony is one of the greatest ever written – a paean for his homeland, written from far away and full of yearning and splendour. Tchaikovsky's “Pathétique” Symphony, his last, is a struggle against heartache and inner turmoil, finding solace in the beauty of music.

Program to include:

Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 "Pathétique"
Dvořák Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "From the New World", Op. 95, B. 178 (June 18)
Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58 (June 17)

Program subject to change.
