Thank you, Mr. Downie

Thank you, Mr. Downie

In 86 or 87, a 21 or 22-year-old Gord Downie and a new Canadian band named Tragically Hip came to Edmonton to do the press rounds and film a video in support of their debut EP. They filmed a video for the song "Last American Exit," and gave about 2 and a half seconds of screen time to the Music Director of K-97 FM, who was interviewing the band. I can't believe how impossibly young (and mulleted) we looked back then, but the Hip were funny, charming, friendly, and showed a helluva lot of promise. I'm glad they were able to touch as many as they did over the years, and I'm glad to have met Gord Downie, even if only briefly. Thank you, Mr. Downie.
