YONA-Sistema Site Assistant (Currently Accepting Applications)

The YONA-Sistema Site Assistant supports the Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta Sistema (YONA-Sistema) program by providing academic and behavioural support to students, communicating with families, helping with various daily administrative tasks, and generally maintaining a clean and safe program site. This role is ideal for a highly-organized, flexible thinker, who takes initiative to solve problems as they arise. Experience working with children in a group setting and/or training in classroom or behavioural management is essential. YONA-Sistema – Substitute Teaching Artists

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s vision is to make music accessible to everyone and minimize barriers for people to access musical arts experiences. Our Musical Creativity team always welcomes interest from qualified, dedicated Teaching Artists (Strings, Winds/Brass, Percussion) to join us in the Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta Sistema (YONA-Sistema) program, which enacts social change through music education for Edmonton’s underserved youth. Your qualifications include a post-secondary degree (preferably in music, education, or a related field) and a minimum of 1-2 years in a teaching or child-care setting. Experience teaching instruments to children or working with groups of children is an asset. Successful candidates are positive, open-minded, empathetic, non-judgmental and committed to building strong communities.
